Featured Riders: Debbie and Max Thompson

Debbie and Max Thompson spent the night with us as they did a loop around our area. Starting in Cleveland Tennessee, passing through Gatlinburg, up and over Newfound Gap (impressive!), Bryson City, North Carolina (Gateway to the Smokies!), and on to Murphy before returning home to Cleveland. Debbie and Max, who run an orphanage in Brazil, are passionate about caring for children and bike touring. Earlier this year they completed the Southern Tier with their daughters. They do some touring in Brazil as well.

Debbie is the ultimate Ultralight bike tourist and Max enjoys carrying all her stuff very much.

Our shared interests in fostering children and bike touring made for some interesting and enjoyable conversation. We enjoyed hosting Debbie and Max very much and wish them well on their journey.

My wife Raquel and I have found the WarmShowers experience to be very enriching. Our guests so far have included Peter “The Cycling Dutchman” Van Glabbeek, Jeremy Myers, Andy Lievertz, and Debbie and Max. We wholeheartedly recommend anyone with a spare bed, couch or floor space to open up their home to wayward bike travelers.
