Winter Bike Project: Installing the Bottom Bracket

Bottom Bracketless Bike

New bottom bracket, tool and a tube of grease.

Park Tool's BBT-22

Done.

There’s not much to say about installing a bottom bracket.  Grease it up.  Screw it in.  Walk away.  This bike project has been a great learning experience.  Of course I’ll still continue to have my local bike shop do repairs, but now I have a greater understanding of what makes a bike work.  I’ll be better prepared to handle emergency repair jobs out on the road.

I would recommend any bike tourist invest a little time in taking an old bike apart and putting it back together.  Next up?  The head set.

 Thanks for reading, Jack
