Featured Riders: Joe and Emmalee

Joe and Emmalee

On summer break from Keuka College, these two student teachers ran into a bit of bad luck crossing over Newfound Gap in the Smokies.  Joe was struck by a car (glancing blow, he’s okay).  Joe and Emmalee started their tour near Rochester, NY and meandered south to Orlando, Florida and are working their way back to New York.  It struck home just how young these two are (or just how old we are) when my wife was telling them of a similar tour she did 22 years ago.  “I’m 22” Joe says.

Don’t ya hate when that happens?

They were great house guests and it was nice to see there is a new generation of tourists coming along.  If you’re on the Blue Ridge Parkway in the next few days, keep an eye out for them and please, give Joe a little extra room.

Hey! I ran into Joe and Emmalee near Dease Lake on the Cassiar Highway in British Columbia last summer. Pictured in this post: http://gypsybytrade.wordpress.com/2012/07/14/real-touring-bikes-british-columbia/

Cool. Bike travel is a small world.
