Prunes. They’re not just for little old ladies anymore.

Picking a potassium packed perishable to put in your panniers?  Consider the granny approved prune (Prunus domestica).  Compared to the sleek, sexy and aerodynamic banana, prunes have more than twice the potassium, twelve times the calcium and ten times the antioxidants.  Prunes pack away into a small space and stay fresh for days if stored properly.  Seven prunes provide about one-hundred calories and two grams of dietary fiber.  Best of all, there’s no silly yellow wrapper to deal with.

Just a thought, Jack

You forgot to mention that they are good for loosening the bowel. Medicinal as well but they taste foul. :0)
