Brooks Saddles

I have given up long ago trying to understand how a simple piece of leather strung between a metal frame can be more comfortable than the latest gel and foam filled saddle designed by teams of engineers.  But it is.  I do understand the need of engineers to justify their continued employment by selling us on the idea that this year’s perfect saddle is more perfect that the one they created last year.  Some things just don’t need improving and some things just get better with age.  Brooks saddles are the one piece of bicycling equipment that the more you use it, the better it gets.  Like a well worn baseball mitt, your Brooks becomes your Brooks.

Kent Peterson posted a great article on getting the right saddle position for your Brooks.  Check it out.

I’ve got to agree with you, a Brooks saddle is about as good as it gets. I went through many saddles over the years and always put up with a certain amount of discomfort until I bought my Flyer. It’s darn near perfect.

So the bike asked “does this saddle make my butt look big?”

That’s the perfect caption for that photo!
