And for folks who like to watch things burn…

Jason Klass at Gear Talk has done a side by side comparison of Esbit, WetFire Tinder, and Trioxane.  My wife and I have used Esbit and enjoy their simplicity and portability, but do not enjoy their sticky residue or funky stench.  But they are a good UL alternative to fuel canisters and stoves.  To bring two cups of water to a full boil we supplement the fuel tabs with a few twigs.

Check out Jason’s post here.

Also over at Hiking in Finland, Hendrik has interviewed Eric Parsons from Revelate Designs in Alaska.  Eric is making frame packs for bike touring.  These appear to be the same packs that J.A. Tackett shared with Velo Hobo readers.  Frame packs allow you to tour rackless and shave pounds off your touring rig.

Check out Hendrik’s post here.

Have a happy Thanksgiving, Jack

You’re very welcome. Thats a great article and it’s nice to get an inside view of a cottage craftsman making bike gear.

Keep doing what you’re doing, Jack
