The 2011 Velo Hobo Challenge

Okay, here’s the challenge.  Go somewhere.  Here’s the tricky part; bicycle from your backdoor (no cars allowed) and spend at least one night before returning.  Spend the night at a friend’s house, loiter in a bus station, camp, sleep in a flea bag motel, get arrested…whatever.

Take a few photos and a write short description of your experience and send it in for posting here velohobo@gmail.com .  At the end of the year, I’ll devise some way of choosing a winner and offer some schlocky prize or trophy.  Fame and adventure will be your true reward.

Good luck, Jack

Sounds like fun. How long do we have to complete this task?

One whole year. I look forward to hearing about your mini-tour.

I did this about 4 week ago! First time I’d “stealth camped” overnight.

At the moment it is blazing hot in Australia, so I might wait a few months before I do it again.

Great photos. It’s far from blazing here. Nice hammock set-up. I use one myself and love it.

    Thanks for the link, Jack

Not sure if my email found you, but here’s a simple over-nighter I did back in the Spring: http://ha1ku.tumblr.com/page/12. Maybe I’ll try another one this winter; I’ve been looking longingly at my new bike and my winter camping gear…

Excellent ride! Thanks, the year is coming to a close soon, I should post a reminder in the next week or two to see if anyone else has a ride to contribute. (oh by the way I didn’t get the email…must have been a google/gmail thing. I hope I haven’t lost any other emails).

      Thanks again, Jack

Sorry, I’m such a nub. The correct link to my story is http://ha1ku.tumblr.com/post/4145979344/twenty-two-hours.

    Happy New Year, all!
