The Velo Hobo: My Official Statement on My Doping

Following the Blue Ridge Breakaway’s release of my time running the “Rabbit”, where ride officials had apparently hidden a chip (covert tracking device) somewhere on my bike, I feel it is necessary to clarify my position regarding the use of performance enhancing substances.

It’s true that I completed the course in 2hrs:36mins:46.2secs, a feat only bettered by 31 of the 40 riders who dared to attempt the “Rabbit”.  It’s also true that I stopped frequently to snap photos and chat with other riders, and still almost finished in the top 3/4ths of riders.  This may lead people to doubt my claim that performance enhancing substances played a role in my success.  But it’s true.  I used caffeine in large quantities before the ride.

To be specific, Smoky Mountain Coffee Roaster’s Deep Creek blend brewed extra strong and thick with extra cream.  Please let this be the last we have to discuss this subject.

Sincerely, The Velo Hobo

Coffee? In the mountains, maybe. Here in the Swamp the only dope for the Long Ride is beer. Lots of beer. Makes you faster, more-better handsomer and a better singer. Or so I hear.

Beer does have lots of carbs, so I guess that makes sense.
